DOOM through x2 generations
I can't objectively tell you about the feelings of playing this shooter, but I can invite a friend of mine who played this piece of art 29 years ago on the original platform “Doomguy”. Then we will compare the impressions – Let's Go!
FF sent in a description of his feelings and thoughts on a game he played at least ten times in his youth.
In 1995, Pentium at home was a rare phenomenon. I had one such, I can define myself as a happy teenager, thanks Dad. A great piece of hardware that never failed, even after 20 hours of non-stop gaming. DOOM - the game that stole my night's sleep and prevented me from seeing my friends, I lived there for a year, and then another one in DOOM II. Looking back today, it was an addiction, but I don't care, it was probably the biggest addiction of my life that I wouldn't be able to deal with even today.
Feelings! I don't know, probably they are recorded inside me, but even today I feel like I'm reloading my super shotgun. The smell of powder when reloading a weapon! I can feel it through the monitor, an impression that no other shooter I've played after DOOM has been able to replicate. Probably it would be a teenager’s psychological influence.
I cannot disagree, I played it on PS4 and compared it with PC on the original code - pixel, my eyes hurt :) But the feelings are indeed different, the gun is more realistic, and it rules. Today's technology and graphics have robbed today's DOOM of its appeal in my opinion, so we play the classics that hold our attention. Worthy of a separate discussion is the step made by DOOM developers id Software to provide players with open game code, which allows the game to be modified to the extent, that it can be run and played on the MP3 player Respect :) DOOM is also in the top five in my shooter list.
I leave my little sketch to the true fans of the game, because a fan never separates from his identity and carries the most precious thing with him.
