Is life Strange? Overview of the question
I shall begin with a proper introduction, my name is Maxine Caulfield, but I prefer to be called Max, I am an 18-year-old senior student at Blackwell Academy, and I take photos. Of me, the world, everything. It may sound sad, but I have a blast.
It was my dream, so to speak, to take pictures on adventures with my best friend Chloe. Whell times change, as we grow up, old friends may stay or even they may choose a different path in life. Indeed, it feels strange.
Yesterday, you remember yourself dreaming about your future, the adventures and excitement you may face, you were full of dreams and thoughts back then. Today you are a student who undertakes to carry the burden of reality that will fall on your shoulders eventually, with the understanding that you can lose your future because of your own irresponsibility. Tomorrow you will be an adult not only in your own eyes, but also in the eyes of others, and the outcome of this path was the influencing aspect of every step taken before.
To be honest, each of us is mostly a realist rather than a skeptic, everyone faces unpleasant situations in life. With your head held high, your eyes wide open, and with the thought that everything has a scientific explanation, even if it's hard to understand or explain. Well, can I ask you a question? How often have you counted yourself saying - If only I could go back in time and change a certain event in my life.
I know it seems strange because it's impossible, but what if you could, so what. In our society a lot of science fiction literature can be found in various forms of artistic expression. And there are theories that support and allow the possibility. Well, I've been through an unexpected experience with the power given to me to change events in the past, turning back time and trying a different approach.
I'll call it the butterfly effect. The basic theory may differ in its aspect, but in my understanding, the flapping of a butterfly's wings here creates greater waves somewhere in the ocean, it has become a theory that small choices have big consequences.
Now, I won't be the one talking about my wish to go back in time. I crossed a path where I saw the consequences of my decisions. I saw how one choice can prevent many others. I had made choices that drastically changed my entire life, creating alternate realities where I was a stranger. I won't say that every change we make is made with a full understanding of what lies ahead. And no, no one knows or can predict it, each of us is a person with a different understanding of the world and life in general. If I had known what kind of journey awaited me, I would have said without a doubt that it was nonsense, but it was reality. Walking through time itself, memories and events, seeing how decisions create new alternatives, making choices that change the actions of others, watching how preventing events creates fearful storms. How even one decision can change the world is an unsolved mystery, no matter how strange and complicated it may feel and sound.
I can say for sure that Life is Strange, and strange things don't always happen when you don't look at them, sometimes they surround, overwhelm you and only in your own hands is the strength to face it, accept it and understand it.
So, the next time you face the storm created from your actions, face it with the awareness that even the smallest change, like saving your best friend, can affect a wider range of destiny.
P.S.
A big thanks to everyone who took the time to write theories, create drawings, and support this game. And integral thanks to Don't Nod Entertainment for developing this project in the first place, without games like Life is Strange to openly talk about topics important among young people and also adults. This game certainly will appeal anyone who has slightly different thoughts about life, but has no way to express or understand them.
