Philemon and Baucis

At first, I recalled a different mythology but couldn't remember much except an illustration of a woman with wood-like features. I decided to explore other myths featuring humans turning into trees for blast-over post. Since we didn't have an appropriate photo for the title, I came up with the idea of an open book with a shadow falling into it. This led me to the myth of Philemon and Baucis.

I decided to overdraw tree illustrations with shadows falling from figures on the clock showing not only the blast-over drawing on existing illustrations but also two different forms of Philemon and Baucis. One depiction shows them as a young pair with tree-like features, while the other shows them as more tree-like and older in age.

For this piece, I used a combination of collage and digital art. It took me about half a week to complete the work, but I wanted to ensure the final result captured the essence of the myth and my creative vision.
